Welcome from the festival Chairperson

14 Sep 2017

Welcome Folks,

I would like to extend a warm welcome to you all to the 18th year of the Gig’n the Bann Festival.  I would like to thank you all for your support and I assure you it is an honour for us to welcome you to our village.  The festival only happens because a small group of dedicated people put a year of voluntary work into organising this event.  It is a pleasure to work with such a great team and I would like to thank the committee for their hard work and endeavours.  I am also greatly indebted to our sponsors and festival patrons, who provide the necessary financial assistance to allow this festival to happen.  A special word of thanks to Mid & East Antrim Borough Council, The Bannside Pharmacy Ltd, Bannvale Credit Union, Oranmore Guesthouse and Tea Rooms, Enkalon Foundation, Community Relations Council, Favour Foods and all the local businesses in the Portglenone area for their support over the years.

We are delighted to have a wide range of events that should appeal to our visiting guests which include:  Three concerts, multiple sessions, a bodhrán seminar, pipe bands, busking competition, an Art exhibition by local artist Vincent Mc Allister, Praise Service, Family Fun Day and a CD launch featuring ‘Strung’.  I would ask you to kindly support our chosen beneficiary of the 5K Run’n the Bann/Walk’n the Bann who this year are the Northern Ireland Assistance Dogs Charity.

This is a festival for everyone in our community and further afield to join together and enjoy a weekend full of top quality music and craic in the heart of Portglenone.  We look forward to seeing you here this year and for the years to come.  I hope everyone has a memorable and enjoyable weekend.

Signed on behalf of the Gig’n the Bann Committee.

Chairperson

Tony Graham
