Seán Keane

Seán Keane described as the distinctive voice of Ireland comes from a very musical family in Caherlistrane, Co. Galway. Born in 1961, he won his first of thirteen Fleadh Cheoil medals for solo singing at seven years of age. He joined his first band called ‘Shegui’ in London and released an album with them. He then toured America with his sister Dolores in a band called ‘Reel Union’ and went on to be a founding member of ‘Arcady’. Seán released his first solo album in the early nineties and is still recording new material, with his tenth solo album released in November 2016 titled, 'New Day Dawning'. Songs like 'One More Hour' and 'Nature’s Little Symphony' have become favourites from the album. His compilation three CD set entitled, 'Never Alone' still proves popular among his followers.

Seán continues to sing songs like 'Isle of Hope / Isle of Tears', 'Galway to Graceland' and 'Fields of Gold'. He has been performing around the world for nearly forty years and this will be his second visit to the festival, the first being in 2005. He will be joined on stage by Fergus Feely on Mandocello and Pat Coyne on guitar. Come along to hear his distinctive Irish tones pull at the heart strings and hear him play up to five instruments on stage. We are delighted to welcome Seán back to Portglenone for what promises to be an evening of top class entertainment.
