Fola

Fola

Fola combine vocals, guitar and flute with a wide range of original songs to produce a unique sound that defies the typical labels of folk, trad, pop or rock. Linked by a passion for music, Kate and Andy have drawn on a diverse range of influences stemming from their different backgrounds.

Providing the songwriting backbone to Fola, Andy has been writing and recording his own material for around 15 years. Kate was born in Abbeyfeale, Co. Limerick and brought up in Collooney, Co. Sligo. As well as singing, Kate also writes and arranges the flute accompaniments to Fola’s songs and writes her own tunes for the flute. Her grandmother, Peggi Jordan, was a significant figure in the ballad revival scene in Dublin in the 1960s (Christy Moore credits her with giving him his first paid gig) and traditional Irish music has always been a strong influence.
