‘Aurora’ is an acoustic duo consisting of two Portglenone girls, Catherine Graham and Jane McAleese. The pair have been performing together for over a year and sing a wide variety of songs from different genres including pop, traditional and folk. Their love of music has always been evident and they have been members of various choirs, orchestras and traditional groups. The girls have performed in many festivals, competitions and productions such as the ‘All-Island School Choir Competition’, Peter Corry’s ‘The Music Box’ and ‘Scór’. Both girls have qualifications in piano, violin and singing. They also both play the guitar and whistle and enjoy incorporating these into performances to put their own twist on popular songs. Catherine and Jane have both been involved in teaching guitar at the local Comhaltas classes and Catherine has taken her love of music to degree level where she is currently studying in Liverpool to become a music teacher. With Jane studying dentistry at Queens University, the girls make the most of their free time performing at weddings and in local bars.
The girls are delighted to be asked to sing at Gig’n the Bann and hope that everyone has a very enjoyable weekend.
